I am a User Experience Researcher and Designer working in the Greater Atlanta Area.
I believe that everyone needs a passion. Professionally, my passion is knowing and representing end users in order to create excellent experiences for them.
I also know that without some method to the madness, undirected passion can be fruitless. My method is rooting my work in immersive problem-solving
and showcasing it with descriptive and compelling story-telling.
Through my eleven year career, I have worked in multidisciplinary teams with Interaction Designers, Visual Designers, Content Strategists, Business clients and IT partners. I have employed a wide range of methodology from the exploratory to the evaluative.
I received my BS in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of
Technology in 2005. My logical, analytical mind and interest in development led to specializations like Intelligent Systems and
Data Management Systems. But my relational side, interest in human behavior, and desire to be a voice for the user led to
a certificate in Social and Personality psychology and a Usability specialization.
After graduation I completed a summer internship at the
Pennsylvania State University where I
continued along the path of user-centered development. I fell more in love with User Experience and went on to receive my
Masters in Human Computer Interaction from Carnegie Mellon.
While I no longer consider myself a developer, my background does help me work better with IT partners and understand problems more holistically.
One of my main passions in my non-work life is running - from the 5K race I put on for my birthday each year, to marathons, and anything in between.
Storytelling is a main love of mine in my personal life as well; whether I'm doing that through speaking at Toastmasters, teaching at a church group,
writing a song, or just relating an event in a way I believe it needs to be heard. I believe the world needs storytellers and I'm happy to be one of them.
Outside of that, you might find me playing my guitar, dancing, volunteering, traveling, or just enjoying the great outdoors.
